Clarity HUD - Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what data Clarity HUD (the "App") collects, how that data is used, and what rights you have over it. By using the App, you agree to the terms described below. This policy applies to users worldwide.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Location Data

Clarity HUD requires access to your device's precise location (GPS) to provide its core functionality - turn-by-turn navigation and real-time speed display. This data:

1.2 Device and Usage Data

Our advertising and analytics infrastructure (via the third-party services listed below) may collect limited technical information such as device identifiers, operating system version, and general, non-identifying usage statistics.

1.3 Purchase Information

In-app subscription (PRO) purchases are processed through our payments partner, RevenueCat, and the app store's own billing system (Google Play Billing). We never receive or store your payment card details - these are handled entirely by the app store.

1.4 Account and Sign-In Data

If you choose to sign in with Google, we collect your email address, display name, and profile photo via Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication. This is used to identify your account, sync your subscription status across devices, and enforce daily usage limits fairly (tied to your account instead of your device). You can use most core features of the App without signing in.

1.5 Usage Data (Signed-In Users)

For users who sign in, we store a small usage record in our database (Firebase Cloud Firestore) containing: your daily route-generation count, a cumulative total route count, and the date you were last active. This is used solely to enforce free/PRO daily limits and is never shared with third parties. We also use Firebase Analytics to collect aggregated, non-identifying app usage events (such as sign-ins and route creations) to help us understand feature usage and improve the App.

2. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

2.1 Advertising

Free-tier users see ads served by Google AdMob on the post-drive summary screen. AdMob may use identifiers such as the advertising ID to serve personalized ads, subject to your device's ad settings. You can remove ads entirely by upgrading to PRO. Ads are never shown while driving - they only appear after a drive has ended, on the summary screen.

3. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Data Retention

Your preferences (language, theme, speedometer style, etc.) are stored locally on your device only. Uninstalling the App removes this data. If you sign in, your account and usage record are retained until you delete them (see Section 6) or request deletion. We do not retain your location history on our servers.

5. Children's Privacy

Clarity HUD is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children in that age group. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable data protection laws - including the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), or similar regional laws - to access, correct, or request deletion of your data.

If you signed in with Google, you can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly within the App at any time: go to Settings → Delete Account and My Data. This immediately removes your Firebase Authentication account and your usage record from our database. You can also revoke location permission at any time in your device settings, or delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the App.

7. International Users

Clarity HUD is available to users globally. Depending on your region, data may be processed by the third-party providers listed above, which may operate servers outside your country of residence. Each provider maintains its own compliance with applicable international data transfer regulations.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
